Fergus

Fergus’ Success Story

Fergus was adopted on 14 February 2023. A working-line Golden Retriever, he arrived in his new home bursting with energy. When overstimulated or unsure of what was expected of him, that energy showed itself through excessive jumping and mouthing. At times, this left his family with bruises and even broken skin.

With patience, perseverance, and plenty of blood, sweat and tears — along with the invaluable support of SGRR — Fergus began to learn. Over time, his family helped him understand boundaries, build focus, and channel his enthusiasm in a positive way.

Three years on, Fergus is a much calmer and happier dog. While he still becomes overexcited from time to time and may briefly revert to old behaviours, the transformation has been incredible. He has recently been awarded his Kennel Club Good Citizen Silver Award — a wonderful achievement.

Fergus remains full of energy, but now he is also full of love. He truly is a super dog, and his journey shows just what can be achieved with commitment, guidance and support.
