Fun Day 2019 and Rolling Raffle!

Friday, 19th July 2019

The 2019 Fun Day & reunion was a great success. The team from Sothern Golden Retriever Society Are extremely well organised and the day ran very smoothly. We know that Horton Kirby is at the very north of our area but the space that it provides is exceptional for all the events the club runs.

We had about 40 families join us with their wonderful rehomed characters. It is so rewarding to meet up with people and the dogs some of whom we have not seen for a long time.

Over 30 dogs and their owners took part in the parade and the accompanying stories often illustrated the tricky circumstances the dogs had been rehomed from.

The Holly Trophy for our oldest Rescue dog present on the day was awarded to the lovely Charlie, who belongs to Sid and Ruth Farmer. They adopted Charlie many years ago as a youngster and he has a wonderful life living alongside the two "terrorist", his terrier companions. Charlie is the great age of 15.

The John Richardson Trophy was awarded for the first time this year to the Best Rescue Dog in the fun show classes. The trophy is created in memory of John Richardson who was a much respected volunteer with SGRR who many people will fondly remember. Karen and Bella were the proud winners.

Rolling Raffle May 2019 ...  "and the winner is............Jim & Sue Gallagher, ticket number 667" - We drew the raffle on Wednesday evening. Thank you to everyone who supported our raffle, raising significant & much needed funds for our rehomed dogs.
