How can I help the work of the Charity?
The people who run the Southern Golden Retriever Rescue are all volunteers, who give up their spare time to help. Could you help the work of the charity?
Foster carers
Usually, we like to place a dog in its new home as soon as we can, to avoid undue disruption and distress to the dog. But sometimes the dog has to be taken into care before a new home has been arranged, or when the new owners are not yet ready. When that happens, if we do not have a foster home available we have to put the dog into commercial kennels, but this is not really the best arrangement. If you are able to foster a dog for a few days and have him or her live with your family whilst permanent arrangements are made it would certainly help the dog to cope better with the changes in his or her life. If you would like to volunteer your services, please contact your local co-ordinator.
Home visitors
We always do our best to match the right dog to the right home and for this reason we have to carry out a home visit prior to placing a dog. If you would like to volunteer your services and think you have the necessary experience, please contact your local co-ordinator.
